I accidentally picked up a syrah instead of a PS a while ago. So here it is. From Lodi 2008, I think it should be pretty good. Extra jammy, strawberry, blueberry. Very tender and luscious. Tannins are relaxed but still around. Not as bold as a big BBQ zin.
Same friend bought this. In the under-$10 category. Shit's bad. I looked down at my glass one point and saw my pants through it.

I liked it. Most syrahs don't hold a candle to PS in terms of body since they are different grapes, but this one was bold but still light and fruity. I don't run across many syrahs that I'm impressed with since I'd rather just go find a PS, but this one was good. Lately, I've also had a craving for zin.
Way overdue. I remember nothing. Good thing? The list price is more than I'd pay for it.
All I seem to consume these days is wine, eh? No, not really. I've just been making the old stuff and freezing it. For the record, stroganoff, lasagna, chili, and fried rice all freeze well. I got this 3-pack of Syrah. It's ok. It's smooth and smoky and would make a good wine with a meal though I didn't find much of interest on its own. But it is definitely different from Petite Sirah.
